My first try at
PhotoHunter. The prompt was "beautiful". This was easy for me - after years of trying to get William on a bicycle we learned for sure this summer that that would not happen - at least not without first addressing his
gravitational insecurity. The physical therapist recommended William get a trike - so... we did. And for this mom, seeing my son at age eight finally able to ride a cycle - even if it is one with three wheels - is beautiful... that and well - he is so darn cute! :D

Welcome to Photo Hunt!
My younger son couldn't get the hang of a bike either, and was much older than your son when he finally did it. What helped him was a scooter. He had to balance it, but could easily step one foot off when he lost balance. After mastering the scooter, he just got on a two wheeler one day and off he went. Maybe that would help you, too?
Thanks! William has a scooter - but it also scares the crap out of him. The PT recommended we try the trike for two reasons: One so that he can get used to being up high and moving under his own power and two to strengthen his ankles. You are right though - the scooter definitely seems like a logical choice...
Good for William! I wish my son had been a bit more cautious when he started riding a bike. May have had fewer concussions that way. Back in the pre-helmet days.
Way to go William!!
Welcome to Photo Hunt, it's a lot of fun :)
He sure looks happy to be cycling! Way to go, William!
Though my son was able to ride at 5, it took my daughter until age 9. But both ride now...so what difference does it make? We all have our own learning pace, end results are the same. Welcome!
You know, the delight on his face is all that matters.........Way to go , William !
My daughter also rides a trike....she is 12 and has special needs. She LOVES it and it's a great way to burn off her endless energy. I hope your son enjoys his bike as much as my daughter does.
Hurrah for William! He would fit right in down here in FL, everyone has one of those.
